We got to check out the game's Hospital stage and giggled our through the demo as the game's sheer stupidity resurfaced itself.
The PlayStation Move controller works perfectly, and the experience is enhanced by Sony's Sharp Shooter peripheral which allows you to pump the weapon like a shotgun to reload. Visually the game maintains the grit of the original Wii version, but the frame-rate is much more consistent on PS3 and some of the encounters have been retooled to showcase the game's 3D support.
Otherwise the game appears to be a fairly faithful port of one of our favourite rails shooters of modern times. Which is really all we ever wanted from the experience. SEGA's going all out with additional levels, weapons, leaderboards and more. But it's the improved frame-rate, higher resolution and PlayStation Move support that's the headline feature of this re-release.
House Of The Dead: Overkill - Extended Cut is set to release exclusively on PlayStation 3 in October.
