"Yeah Uncharted: Golden Abyss looks great, but I can get hundreds of cheap games for my mobile phone for the same price."
It frustrates us unlike anything else, but as time goes on we've come to the realisation that this is something we're going to have to put up with. iOS and Android platforms aren't going away, and that's why we think Sony's current PlayStation Suite strategy is so forward-thinking.
The solution will see PlayStation content published and distributed across a wide variety of devices, from PlayStation Vita to the Xperia Play to tablet computers. And while Sony's still keeping its plans close to hand, SCEA marketing director John Koller seems to think the initiative is a big deal.
Starting this November, content developers can create content for PlayStation Certified devices, hardware certified through the PS Suite license program, as well as for PS Vita, Koller told InvestorPlace.
The ability to access the wide variety of applications available on PS Vita and PS3 is a huge incentive for consumers who also have PS Suite-enabled phones or the S1 tablet [Sonys recently released tablet computer]. The rigorous certification process ensures quality experiences only possible on PlayStation.
And it is the reach of the delivery service that could make PlayStation Suite such a promising solution. The Android platform has yet to really find its gaming niche. If Sony can make PlayStation a brand that matters across multiple mobile units, as well as at home with PS3 and on-the-go with Vita, it'd certainly be a feather in the gaming division's cap.
