No, instead you should be irritated about having to wait an extra couple of months to get your hands on the third-person shooter.
We think it's fair to say that Rockstar's most recent games β while great β haven't been particularly compelling shooters. With the open-world aspect stripped out of Max Payne 3, it looks as though Rockstar's made it a focus to tune the game's shooting. And it looks incredible.
In a brand new design trailer, the narrator points out that Rockstar wanted to give the player the freedom of a first-person shooter in a third-person game. The solution was to create a ridiculously dynamic animation system, that allows Max to twist, pivot and turn depending on which way the player is aiming. It sounds pretty basic, but when you see it in action, you'll realise how impressive the tech really is. The game looks silky smooth.
We hope all of this research and development means the shooting aspect of future Rockstar releases (i.e. Grand Theft Auto V) won't feel stiff as an arthritic joint. Also, if any gameplay designers are reading β can you please make sure that the PlayStation 3 version of the game has the triggers assigned to L1/R1 please. You guys know it makes sense.
