The visual style, for one, was extremely impressive — and we're surprised it hasn't been aped yet. But for all the game's good looks and presentation trickery, Dog Days just wasn't that fun to play. It was short, predictable and flat. Developer IO really needs to go back to the drawing board if it's considering a sequel.
And a sequel it might well have in mind. Eagle-eyed posters on the NeoGAF message boards have uncovered a trademark filed by Square Enix for a project called "Sleeping Dogs". It doesn't exactly take a genius to put two and two together now does it? Consider that IO itself recently posted a job opportunity for a "third-person" action game, and we'd say it's looking pretty likely.
