For those not up-to-date with industry terminology, "gold" is the term attached to game code that is fully completed and ready for manufacturing. In short: the game's probably being printed onto blank Blu-ray discs as you read this.
In other unrelated Twisted Metal news, it appears that the game will sport Sony's PSN Pass program after all. An ambiguous report filed by The Gamers Hub cited a short conversation with QA tester Justin Trease, who appeared to acknowledge the appearance of an online pass in the hotly anticipated car combat title.
Late last year, outspoken designer David Jaffe indicated that he'd rather Twisted Metal didn't utilise the PSN Pass program. Alas, it looks as though the legendary developer's not going to get his wish.
Twisted Metal shoots its way onto PS3 on February 14th in North America and February 17th in Europe.
