According to rumours spilling out of mobile website Pocket-Lint this morning, HTC will be one of the first companies outside of Sony to offer PlayStation Certified Android-powered mobile devices.
The move, which the website speculates could be announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month, would mean that upcoming phones produced by the company would be able to play various PlayStation games such as Crash Bandicoot, and, presumably, PlayStation Suite titles in the future.
PlayStation Certified is part of Sony’s wider plan to combat the dominance of iPhone gaming and provide a more stable, quality assured marketplace for Android devices.
HTC has refused to deny the rumour, simply stating that it does not “comment on rumours or speculation”.
To date, only Sony branded handsets have carried the PlayStation Certified moniker, with the gaming focused Xperia Play being the most notable.
