Forget the concerning news about dwindling sales, and let’s focus on what really matters: Twisted Metal was the ninth best selling game in North America for the month of February. Considering the amount of scepticism that was lofted at director David Jaffe and his team regarding the relevance of car combat, we think that’s a pretty big win for the studio. Now, if only the multiplayer would work properly...
On a more serious subject though, the North American video game industry is definitely showing signs of decline. While hardware performance for February was much improved over January – largely thanks to the release of the PlayStation Vita – overall sales continued to drop. Indeed, the combined total of hardware and software sales saw a 20 percent decline over February 2011. Not good.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the best selling title for the month, with Final Fantasy XIII-2 and UFC Undisputed 3 both rounding out the top three. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was the only new IP to appear on the list in fourth, with Just Dance 3 finishing in fifth.
Meanwhile, Uncharted: Golden Abyss was the highest selling PlayStation Vita title, finishing up somewhere outside of the top ten.

Question - so Twisted Metal got 9th behind Skyrim. That's comparing Twisted Metal's one system vs. Skyrim's Two (360, PS3), right? I'm just making sure I understand the charting (I know Skyrim has been out for months).
Glad to see Twisted Metal do so well, forget where I read it but one source said it would have been the no. 2 selling game if NPD still went with individual SKUs. Also read Uncharted was in the top 20 and Sony seems happy with PSVita's launch so that's a good sign. Overall there is a decline and it comes down to two factors. The most important is that the economy, and unfortunately this is a worldwide problem, continues to be utter but I also think new hardware is needed. Xbox360 is going to be 7 years old and the Wii and PS3 are both in year 6. This has been a longer console generation than we've seen in a while, maybe ever.
@ztpayne7 Basically, Twisted Metal sold more on PS3 alone than Battlefield 3 did on PC, 360 and PS3... So yes, you're correct.
Ninth isn't really all that good when you think about it
