ModNation Racers studio United Front Games has revealed itself as the developer behind the rumoured LittleBigPlanet Karting. The adorable racer – due out on PlayStation 3 at some point in 2012 – promises a full creation system similar to that in the mainline LBP games, which will allow players to craft new levels, racers, and even modify the rules of the game in order to create new modes and challenges.
The game will also be supported by the full “community experience” currently present in LittleBigPlanet 2, leading us to believe that the brilliant web portal LBP.me will be integrated in some way.
The original LittleBigPlanet Karting rumours hinted at some kind of PlayStation Move support, but neither Sony nor United Front Games has mentioned that as part of this afternoon’s announcement.
You can get your first glimpse of the title in action via the trailer below. We were sceptical at first, but after seeing the game in motion we’re sold. Karts even come equipped with Sackboy’s hookshot from the main series. How cool is that?

Brilliant. Want, want, want.
Do WANT!!!
It's just Mariokart with Sackboy... Epic win.
This could be really fun!
Oh yesssssss
Was really hoping this would be coming to Vita. I like to play my kart racers on handhelds.
Between it being LBP and from the devs of Mod Nation Racers, I have absolutely ZERO faith that it'll have good physics and controls. But if they put out a demo that proves me wrong, I'll consider it.
Yes, would love to try a demo.
@Stuffgamer1
I take it you like neither of the games?
Am I the only one who feels that the actual makers of LBP(and not San Diego Studio) are still working on LBPV, while SDS is working on LBPK?
@LittleBigVita United Front Games are making LittleBigPlanet Karting. Double Eleven and Tarsier Studios are making LittleBigPlanet Vita. No one knows what Media Molecule are doing at the moment.
This game has really caught my eye. I hope it turns out really well. I love a good kart racer.
