Episodic content is a curse – just ask fans of Half-Life. Sadly it looks as though SEGA’s not going to be the ones to break that curse, announcing that it has no plans to continue its Sonic the Hedgehog 4 series beyond the upcoming Episode 2.
Sonic Team producer Takashi Iizuka broke the depressing news, telling Digital Spy that while the team is “looking forward to hearing the feedback” to Episode 2, it is “not planning to release another episode”.
Don’t get too upset — you should be used to this by now.

I wish it had come out as a full retail game to be honest. But I suppose im upset about this.
What the HECK!? You left out Knuckles & The Super Emeralds, I thought the point was to have another trilogy just like the Genesis. If you're not making another one you should of just had Episode II, because Episode I was just a repeat of the first 3. Are you out of your mind? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?
So let me get this straight:
1. No Sequel
2. No Knuckles
3. No Super Emeralds
4. No New Items
Well, that makes this pretty much pointless. How did they manage to screw that up? From now on I officially declare "Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode II" to be "Sonic The Hedgehog 4" and I guess Episode I never happened.
I love Sonic, but this was just a slap in the face.
