Following yesterday's monstrous PlayStation Orbis rumour, a couple of crafty Internet snoops have uncovered what appear to be some concept sketches of the platform in action.
The drawings – since suspiciously removed from original host Coque Design – show a group of figures interacting with a PlayStation Eye-style camera. The images were originally included under the headline “Illustrations & Sketches for new PlayStation Orbis features”.
One of the drawings shows a group of women dancing in front of the camera, hinting at some form of Kinect-esque motion tracking. However, a depth sensing camera was not included in yesterday’s rumours.
Feel free to share your thoughts and observations in the comments. We have a sneaking suspicion these Orbis rumours aren't going to go away.

I wonder: could PlayStation Orbis be the name of an updated version of the PS Eye? It doesn't exactly jive with the rumours we've already heard, but it's possible that sources could be mixing up project codenames.
Orbis definitely sounds like the kind of name they'd give to a motion device. Thoughts?
@get2sammyb All yesterday, I was wondering how a "sphere" shaped playstation would look like on my entertainment system... I'm glad you put this idea into my head instead.
Wake me up when we get to the PlayStation 187, although it'd be something that's already mildly pricey, being overpriced, it'd still be awesome... right?
Looks like SingStar Player running on a phone to me.
Not liking this trend of anti-used games. Also interesting how both MS and Sony are rumoured to be going with AMD instead of IBM for the CPUs in their next gen systems.
@LittleBigVita Wake you up from the dead?? Orbis does sounds more like a peripheral then a console but I guess time will tell. I hope the rumours are no true about game lock down and game access with only internet connection, because this will alienate lots of players.
That looks more like the Windows Phone/Kinect interactivity to me . . . or is that too obvious a steal? Plus, are Sony ever actually going to able to unify several devices under one platform? Doubtfull.
I would think that if it comes to pass the non PS3 BC would actually be in favour of the Vita/UMD programme in effect at the moment.
In all honesty, if there is no possibilty of second hand games etc. I doubt I'll bother with one, just hope my launch 60 keeps on ticking . . .
I'm kinda like Sammy, I'm wondering if this isn't just an upgrade to the Move and Camera system. Personally I'm getting a little sick of all of this motion control stuff. Wish these console makers would take things back to basics a bit.
Whatever they do, just don't force me to play games with anything other than a dualshock controller. I hate any form of motion control with a passion.
@Gamer83 It can be great when used in the right place. The problem is striking the right balance. I personally think Sony does a good job with this, so I'm not worried if it decides to implement motion controls in its next system.
What Sony has done right, unlike its competitors, is not force motion control on the gamer. The option to use motion is there but for people like me who don't care for it, we can just use the dualshock, hopefully Sony stays on this course because Nintendo and MS seem intent on pushing stupid crap on people rather than providing options.
Prgression is a good thing but sometimes gets lost in all the hype ( moved was swampwed by the kinect Juggernaught) . I will get a next gen playstation and xbox as I like games on each format of the current gen ( if this pans out in next gen we will have to see ) . I just think people should just keep their eyes peeled for E3 and see what emerges from there in 2012 and 2013 . There had my turn on the soapbox
see I am so passionate about this I made typos lol
Man, if it makes my face look anything like those sketches do, the future can stay the #&%$ back.
I don't understand the emotional attachment people have with the Dualshock 3, but then again, my wife accuses me of being Vulcan.
Force feedback wheel is great for car games, Flightstick is great for flying games, Move with Sharpshooter is great for FP1. Dualshock 3 is great for many games. Horses for courses.
Me, I can't wait for the holodeck. Everything that moves us closer to that goal is a good thing.
Well, I don't know about others but for me it's just a matter of comfort. I've been using the dualshock controller for years and still find it to be the best option available. I feel like it's more accurate than motion controls even for first and third person shooters, but obviously there are others who feel differently and that's the nice thing about Sony's products, you have plenty of options. Hopefully it'll stay like that.
