With Ezio’s story done and dusted, it was anticipated that Assassin’s Creed III would head to a new period in history. Egypt seemed like the strongest rumour for a while, but it looks like the latest in Ubisoft’s stealth franchise is actually heading for the American Revolution.
A promotional image leaked by a Best Buy employee shows what appears to be a Native American dressed in traditional assassin clobber. The character is holding a tomahawk which bares the Assassin’s Creed symbol, and is standing in front of the original Continental flag.
The image looks legitimate to us, though obviously Ubisoft is keeping quiet for now.
While we’re stoked to see Assassin’s Creed head in a completely new direction, we can't but feel that the American Revolution is a bit safe. We had our hearts set on Ancient Egypt or Victorian London.
Are you happy with the setting, or would you have preferred something else?

If AC3 is set during the American Revolution then there's still hope for Victorian London down the line, at least from a chronological perspective.
I can't put into words how much I hope this is true. The American Revolution is something that hasn't been explored much in games that I can remember but it's certainly one that could be interesting. Considering the story in the AC games is usually very good I can't wait to see Ubisoft's take on this.
I think this is a pretty good choice. But it seems most of their locales have been in major cities - so it would be interesting to see the specific location.
I just don't see how the gameplay will carry over if this is true. Maybe we'll see some big changes? The environment will be completely different too, no huge cities with dozens of roofs to jump across surely?
