Rumour: Tales of Xillia Heading to Europe

Trademark says so

The latest entry in the long-running Tales series, Tales of Xillia, could be coming to Europe if a trademark is to be believed.

Seasoned snoops Siliconera uncovered a listing for the title that was filed by publisher Namco Bandai earlier in the week. These things usually turn out to be true.

Namco Bandai has yet to comment on the situation, but given the success of Xillia overseas a localisation definitely makes sense. The game’s shifted almost 750k units since its release in Japan last September

Its predecessor, Tales of Graces F, launched in North America last week and is due out in Europe this summer.

I really hope they start localizing Tales games more consistently. There's few things as frustrating as being perfectly willing to throw money at a franchise and not being able to.

God I really hope that this game makes it to the US. I love the Tales series and I am really enjoying Graces F right now. If Xillia doesn't come to the US I suppose I could always import it but I hope that it won't come to that.

Well Graces f just did good numbers in America. Hopefully Namco sits up and pays attention, we need more JRPGs on HD consoles.

So will this be an English European release? Am I right in believing that I would be able to import it and play it on my PS3 no problem?

Notably less excited after discovering Namco choose to cut costs by not including Japanese voices with English subtitles for Tales of Graces f for American release.

Yeah as far as anyone knows it will be. PS3 is region free - so you could even import and play the Japanese version if you wanted. The only problem is you'd need a European PSN account to buy DLC for the European version of the game.

It depends. I think it's safe to say most European releases feature english as the default language, with the other main European languages (like French, Italian, Spanish, German) as options.

However, I have seen some publishers actually release separate versions for Europe. One version for the UK only (which only features english) and another version for the rest of Europe (which comes with all the other European languages other than english).

Although I don't think Namco would do this with Tales - I would assume the European version would cover all European languages just to save them the money of manufacturing more discs.

One last thing - in terms of voice overs it's the same story as the text. Only quite often the European versions have english voice overs only, with other languages only available as text translations.
