It's the American Revolution
Clearly tired of all the leaks, Ubisoft has come right out and revealed the boxart for Assassin’s Creed III. As anticipated, it shows the American Revolution.
Expect more details about the sequel to emerge at the Games Developers Conference next week.

It's always painful to see us English getting axed in the face. I just hope the game does a good job of portraying us, rather than jumping to stereotypes instantly
Until now, I've never had a desire to play an Assassin's Creed game. I'm definately intrigued by the setting.
I read at other game blogs that the main character is a Native American, as further indicated by axe in the boxart.
I have yet to play through the original game from 2007; better get into these games to be ready for this one!
