Avalanche Studios may well be hard at work on a top-secret licensed project, but that’s not stopping the Swedish studio from thinking ahead. In a recent interview with Eurogamer.net, company gaffer Christofer Sundberg admitted that the Just Cause series would be a perfect fit for future consoles – including the PlayStation 4.
He said:
There is a very strong emotional attachment to the franchise as it was created by me and my design team here so we would obviously like to see a very bright future for Just Cause.
In this day and age when everyone is struggling to make money, my opinion is that the JC IP is perfect for everything that next-gen has to offer.
The previous Just Cause launched in 2010 on PlayStation 3, and remains one of the most technically impressive open-world titles available for the platform.
PS4 rumours have been swirling all week, with the most recent speculation suggesting that Sony is aiming to beat the next Xbox to market.

I just want to see another Just Cause game, I don't care if it's on PS3 or PS4!
It remains my most-played PS3 game in terms of hours - 138 according to my Raptr stats - and that's currently 8 more than I've put into GT5. I've got the Platinum, but I still haven't completed it to 100%.
I haven't played it for a while now, but it's one of few games that I'll keep for as long as I have my PS3, because I'll keep going back to it even after I get to 100% - it's just that much fun.
