Despite a spate of rumours to the contrary, Bethesda has confirmed that it has not cancelled Prey 2. Instead the game has been delayed beyond its 2012 release date due to the title not yet meeting the publisher’s “quality standards”. We're resisting the temptation to make a snarky comment about Skyrim's state on PS3.
The publisher continued that while the game shows “great promise”, development has not progressed “satisfactorily” over the past year. It added that it is not willing to compromise its quality standards to “meet a release schedule”.
The statement is pretty damning, but indicates faith in the project and developer Human Head Studios. We suspect a few heads have rolled behind the scenes, though – especially after Prey 2 got such a positive press reaction last year.
Here's hoping the project gets back on track soon.

Speaking of delays - no, not Last Guardian this time - what's the latest on the BGE sequel?
If the game has failed Bethesda's quality standards, then you know it has issues!
