Capcom's portable scrapper Street Fighter X Tekken will let Vita owners face off against PS3 players, as the publisher has confirmed cross platform multiplayer for its upcoming title.
The best part is the multiplayer supports 3G communications, so you can get involved in a good scrap wherever you are — as long as there's 3G coverage, of course.
Capcom's official description reads hence:
Announced and showcased during Captivate was the Cross-Platform Play for the PS Vita system version of Street Fighter X Tekken which allows owners of the PS Vita system version to compete against owners of the PS3™ version anywhere in the world, via Wi-Fi or 3G. Other features confirmed for the PS Vita system version of Street Fighter X Tekken were the introduction of touch controls, local and Wi-Fi multiplayer plus Near functionality alongside all the content from the home console version.
We've also got some fresh screenshots showing the Vita version's roster of Dudley, Elena, Jack and more. They're right below.
Still no release date, but at least we'll be playing it this autumn.

I like hearing about cross-platform play in any game, but I can't imagine 3G multiplayer will be very smooth, will it?
I wonder if "3G support" will be similar to UMVC3. Sure you can log in with 3G but the support is limited to checking leader boards (and replays I think?).
@nathanuc1988 Official word is now in the article. Sounds to me like full cross platform play!
I am 100% sold!
