If the recently announced Pinball Arcade wasn’t enough to wet your flip-happy whistle, then you might be excited (and somewhat surprised) to learn that Zen Pinball 2 is on the way too.
Developer Zen Studios announced the PS3 and PS Vita follow-up overnight, meaning, like the Pinball Arcade, you’ll now be able to challenge your high-scores on the road as well as at home.
But there’s more – Zen Pinball 2 will be available as a free upgrade to anyone that owns a copy of Marvel Pinball or the original Zen Pinball on PS3. You’ll have to download an update, but once you’re done, all of your DLC (for either of the aforementioned titles) will be playable in one place. We know it’s a teensy bit confusing, but do try to keep up.
A neat new addition in Zen Pinball 2 will allow you to trial tables you haven’t yet purchased courtesy of a built-in demo system. Furthermore, any DLC you do purchase (present or future) will be playable on both PS3 and Vita.
There’s no hard date announced for the pseudo-sequel just yet, but it’s expected alongside Marvel Pinball: Avengers Chronicles this spring. And, yes, those tables will work in Zen Pinball 2 too. Phew.

What are the chances of this coming to the 3DS. I have a PS3, but would rather have it on the go.
@XCWarrior: Probably pretty good.
I would say 3DS or Wii U, hopefully with similar cross-platform features as here.
This is pretty awesome. Basically as a PS+ member, we're getting free pinball on our Vitas because of the Marvel Pack we got for free on the PS3.
I'll be picking up Marvel Pinball for the sake of getting its tables on this (after I but Marvel) free game on-the-go
