Famitsu magazine has uploaded the first screenshots of Sony and Marvelous AQL’s upcoming PlayStation Vita exclusive Soul Sacrifice. The title – which is being worked on by former Capcom man Keiji Inafune – revolves around the concept of sacrifice, and sees players forgoing body parts in order to usher gruesome magical attacks.
While the title is being pitched as Sony’s answer to Monster Hunter, this title is several shades darker than Capcom's blockbuster. The enemy design in particular is repulsive, as evidenced by this, er, chicken thing embedded to the right.
You can view the full set of screens and artwork on Famitsu’s official website. We should warn you, though: these aren't for the faint-hearted.

The artwork is awesome. This has massive potential if it plays well.
WOW! This aint your grandma's Monster Hunter. This could turn out to be super popular though if, as get2sammyb says, it plays well.
O- oh my god. No wonder Pushsquare didn't upload some of those other pics on the Famitsu site o_o
Based on the screen shot of the strange chicken thing above I thought the game looked terrible. After checking out the Famitsu website - I am speechless!
That is some crazy artwork. The screenshots look very impressive. Hard to believe that this is a Vita game, it looks like a console game with those graphics. I hope that the gameplay will be just as impressive. Can't wait to hear more about this.
the first dozen or so pics ain't that bad, but as I scrolled down...oh $hit!
According to the Famitsu website,
There is a book that recorded the battle between sorcerers and monsters, when the player reads this book there are able to enter the world within the book and undertake quests, these quests can have up to four players playing together.
