DrinkBox Studios’ latest indie darling Guacamelee! is heading exclusively to PlayStation 3 and Vita, courtesy of Sony’s growing Pub Fund program.
For those unclear, Pub Fund is part of Sony’s initiative to bring innovative indie content to the PlayStation platform. In exchange for funding the product, Sony requests a short window of exclusivity. That’s exactly what’s going to happen with Guacamelee!.
The latest project from the Tales of Space developer has been gaining a lot of traction over the past couple of months, and it’s easy to see why.
If you didn’t already guess from the title, Guacamelee! is heavily inspired by Mexican culture. It tells the story of a depressed agave farmer, who embarks on a campaign to save El Presidente’s daughter from the clutches of an Evil Charro Skeleton.
The game’s primary mechanic – in addition to its fighting and platforming – is the ability to switch between the “World of the Living” and the “World of the Dead”, allowing you to reach previously inaccessible areas and progress through the story.
The game’s due out on PS3 and Vita this year, and will be on display at E3 next week. There’s no word on cross-platform compatibility just yet, but with Sony backing the title, it seems like a safe bet.

I'm in. Co-op sealed the deal. Also, it reminded me of one of my all time favorite cartoons, Jackie Chan Adventures, which could have very easily been made into this game, or at least an El Toro and Viper spinoff. they even have the rooster talisman. A lot of good and evil characters showed up over 5 seasons.
