The next big addition to Bethesda’s enormous role-playing game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is kind of unexpected. The publisher announced on its official blog that it is adding mounted combat to the game, meaning you won’t even need to leave the comfort of your horse before ruthlessly slashing another dragon to death.
There’s no word on a date for the update just yet, but it’s currently being tested on PC. You can peruse the full list of upcoming tweaks through here.

I've been trying this out on Steam with the beta version of the patch. It's quite clunky but it does work. You can only use one sword/axe/mace though, or a bow while on horseback. You use either shoulder button to attack on the right or left side, and you can hold it down to charge up attacks (which also looks quite cool).
Can't use magic, dual wield or block, but they might be adding them in since this is just the first beta patch.
I just wish they'd fix the issues before they add useless toys. I'm completely unable to do the Companions quests, since they want me to intimidate a guy a dragon already killed in "Hired Muscle". If they'd add an option to change your mind on the quests, like you can with the Thief Guild, then this wouldnt be a problem.
I think this is a great addition but they need to include magic (even if only 1 handed). I'm a mage as you can guess..
This is actually needed, we need it asap. Why wasnt this thought of and put in before launch?
