LittleBigPlanet Karting might have one of the blandest names in gaming, but the craftwork kart racer sure looks fun. In this brand new interview published on the PlayStation Blog, United Front Games’ William Ho has revealed a little more about the upcoming game.
The video touches on the title’s core mechanics, its creation aspects, and what it’s like to be working with Media Molecule on a game set in Sackboy’s brilliantly stylised make-do world.
Is LittleBigPlanet Karting on your radar, or are you going to stick with ModNation Racers for the time being?

I'd much rather grab this than modnation.
I'm hoping for a demo.
Yeah, would love a demo. Certainly looks good.
As long as it doesn't have insanely long load times, I'm in
@ShogunRok The problem with games with heavy customisation aspects like this is that they don't operate in the same way as a traditional racing game. They have to download and render the unique track too and, unfortunately, that takes time.
Some of the early previews suggest they have improved the loading times here, but don't expect it to be immediate by any means.
I still don't get it.
UFG makes MNR, a game which kinda looks like LBP to begin with, and Sony advertises w/ it's "Play Create Share" mantra, but with racing. Then Mm makes LBP2, a platforming game which lets you do just about anything your heart and talent can muster up. And NOW UFG is basically re-making MNR but w/ LBP2 skins?
OK, here's what I don't get - remember the big uproar when LBP2 was announced about how it just should have been an add-on DL pack? Well shouldn't LBP Karting be an add-on for either MNR or LBP2? Maybe LBP3? I know Ninty does this all the time w/ their Kart games - I swear Mario Kart DS and 7 are practically the same game, which is why they named it "MK 7" rather than "MK 3DS" - but at least those games are on different systems. i.e. if this was a PS4 launch game w/ really realistic graphics then I'm ok w/ it.
This looks fun, but it just seems unnecessary. Maybe when it's $30 GH I'll look into it, I can't see it being $60. Maybe $40 like a "Move" game.
@rjejr It couldn't be just DLC because this is using a different engine. While people found limited ways to make 3D work in LittleBigPlanet 2, this is proper 3D.
Ok, so it can't be LBP2 DLC, how about MNR DLC? Or better yet why doesn't UFG just make MNR2 and throw some skins on that? I don't know, it just seems weird. Maybe if MM were making it I wouldn't care, but why UFG? It's like theyre admitting MNR didn't do well b/c of the load times and harsh difficulty so rather than risking $ on MNR2 they're stealing Sackboy to sell more copies of MNR2 by calling it LBP Karting. Ya know what I'm saying?
