Sadly we’re not here to share a release date announcement for the upcoming PS3 and Vita throwback Retro City Rampage, but we do have a new gameplay trailer to sate your raging anticipation. Best of all, this brand new video shows off the title on Sony's new handheld for the very first time.
Those of you unsure of which platform to purchase Retro City Rampage on might be excited to learn that the Vita version features full cross-platform play and shared leaderboards with the PS3 release. In short: you'll probably want both.
While the handheld title is equipped with all of the features and content of its home console counterpart, it also has a trick or two of its own. Most notable is the game’s ability to simulate the handheld screens of yesteryear, with its enhanced dot-matrix filter. Couple it with the monochrome colour processor and it’ll feel like the late 80s all over again — albeit without the bad hairstyles.
And before you start to get in a tiswas over the Vita's pocketable size, rest assured that the portable game features a new screen mode designed to scale the action, allowing you to play without the aid of a microscope. An alternative mode maintains the view of the PS3 version at the expense of slightly smaller pixels, so the choice is yours.
As we alluded at the start of this post, there’s still no date attached to Retro City Rampage, but it’s due out on PS3 and Vita later this year.

I love to see games released simultaneously on both systems giving people the choice, and I also love hearing about Cross-Platform compatibility with saves and leaderboards. That being said, if they are sold separately, I am usually just going to pick up one version or the other. In this case I'll get the Vita version.
Looks amazing and an instant purchase from me on Vita. I hope this guy makes a fortune on this game and we get to see more from him in the future!
