Adding to the tally of cross compatible PS3 and Vita titles, Canadian developer Frima Studio has officially raised the curtain on Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov’s Revenge.
The sequel to 2009’s PlayStation Mini promises to expand upon the original’s silly sense of humour and real-time strategy gameplay. It will include new zombies, sharper graphics, and, as previously alluded, multiplayer cross play.
Hilariously, the game hopes to settle one of the biggest debates in popular culture, pitting classic, shuffling zombies against Dr. Brainhov’s new breed of speedy undead. Brilliant.
Sony’s Matt Levitan said:
At Sony we’re always excited to see new titles pushing the envelope of our technologies and with its real time, cross-platform gameplay Brainhov’s Revenge is no exception. We’re pleased to have this kind of great content in the development pipeline and look forward to providing players with an innovative Cross Play experience.
The game will take advantage of Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 technology, and is set to release in early 2013.

That screenshot looks cool, and I like the look of this game, but Crossplay means less to me than "one game purchase is compatible on both the ps3 and the vita" — which is what I want PSN games to be. Crossplay could just mean you can play against people on their PS3 while you are on the Vita. I was misled in early stages of Vita development and was under the impression PSN games would be as good as interchangeable between PS3 and Vita. I even think buy 1 get the other version free is a little less than ideal (although I certainly won't complain about anything free), b/c then you have to replay and unlock trophies on both versions. I'd like to see future PSN games simply be playable on both devices and share saves and trophies — that is technologically possible right?
@Squiggle55 It's already happening in some games like MotorStorm RC. And there's still time for this to blossom into something more than cross platform multiplayer.
I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up a "buy one, get both" deal either. It's still a long way from release, so I'm sure some things are still being finalised.
