True Blood actress Camilla Luddington has been confirmed as the new voice of Lara Croft in Crystal Dynamics’ upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. The British-born star was chosen after an “international talent search using scouts in Europe and the US”. She will also shoot performance capture for the protagonist.
Studio gaffer Darrell Gallagher explained:
This Tomb Raider game is very different to any other and we are demanding far more from the voice and performance acting than ever before as we take the franchise in a new direction.
Luddington’s set to discuss her appointment at a Comic-Con panel in San Diego next month. The game itself is scheduled to release on 5th March, 2013.

Why? There was nothing wrong with Keeley Hawes
@zaphod Keeley Hawes is amazing, but I think they wanted a more vulnerable sounding character. Hence the younger actress. Also, I doubt Keeley would have been the right fit for the performance capture aspect.
Makes sense I suppose given they're trying to do something different. Maybe her voice will grow on me - I wasn't overly keen on it during the trailer...
Keeley Hawes is and always will be the voice for Lara Croft. Since they are going with a younger Lara, I understand the choice to go with a younger actress. The voice and motion actor/actress should be one in the same as much as possible, so Camilla Luddington should do the whole thing if she's able.
Keeley Hawes can do the voice and performance capture for the next game.
Anyone know if Crystal Dynamics is going to do another TR/Lara Croft game in the style of Guardian of Light? That game was fun.
Camilla was good in Californication.
