It’s been a while since we got a decent web-slinging game, but Beenox’s upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man looks poised to break that trend. This brand new developer diary offers a fairly brief look at the title, but should be enough to get your blood pumping.
The open-world navigation looks absolutely fantastic, and brings back fond memories of the excellent Spider-Man 2 on PS2. Even the combat looks great – though it’s obviously been heavily inspired by Batman: Arkham City.
Activision’s put out some pretty shoddy licensed titles over the last couple of months, but this looks genuinely exciting. Are you planning on picking it up?

Wow. This game has shot straight to the top of my radar. Let's hope the missions are as fun as the navigation.
This looks like the game of my dreams!
Looks epic...
I played the demo on 3DS, and first thing that came to mind was Arkham Asylum! Which, by all means is a fantastic thing seeing how Batman and Spiderman are my two favorite superheroes!~ I'm gunna be picking this up on PS3 AND 3DS~!
Awesome. My only question is why has it taken them so long?! What were they thinking with the previous Spiderman games. All anyone has ever wanted to do is fly around the city.
Doesn't look all that different from Web of Shadows to me. Well it's better graphically as I played that on the Wii but as far as swinging and missions and stuff.
Questions - why does Spiderman need to web those bad guys in the park to the ground a la Cole, he has the proportional strength of a Spider, 1 punch should knock them out cold. And why is he taking forever covering that car windshield with web when he can put up a net instantly to catch the entire car? And has Spiderman ever, and I mean ever, wrapped his legs around a guy to throw him to the ground? Common muggers at that? It works for Batman as he's just a normal guy in a costume, this is Spiderman, w/ real superpowers. Just seems unnecessary. In Web of Shawdows you were mostly fighting guys in powered suits.
Finally, saw the Osphone and immediately thought - WiiU controller. Would be nice to always have the map in you lap, touch wherever you ant to go, and not taking up TV screen real estate. Seems like a nice game for no TV HUD.
Looks like Spider Man 2 but prettier. Good stuff.
that map thing is straight from spider-man vs the kingpin on megaCD
