In a sharp contrast to the no comment responses of other PlayStation executives, Sony’s Scott Rohde has outright acknowledged the existence of the PS4.
When quizzed on the next-generation console by GameTrailers, the senior vice president of SCEA responded:
We’re not talking about when the machine is coming out, but I think that everyone on the planet knows that of course games are in development.
Rohde continued that Sony decided not to talk about the PS4 during its press conference because it didn’t feel it was “important to bring up this year”.
He continued:
We had probably five or ten other games that probably deserved stage time that didn’t get it, right? We always have so much to talk about that we felt we didn’t need to talk about that just yet.
Jack Tretton said earlier today that Sony is not interested in being first in the next-generation console race, because it would rather be the best instead.

The dude's right. I don't see what the big deal is in being just a little honest. "No comment" means "yes" anyways. Rarely it means "I dunno." It never means "No."
@ATDI I agree, but the corporate line appears to be "no comment" on this stuff. The fact that he actually acknowledged it was unusual.
This makes me a little sad, actually. Guess the PS4 is 2-3 years down the line.
well sony knows we got nextbox and wii u to content with so they are in no hurry

I think it's a nice move really. Shows the 'grown up' side to the industry- denials and 'no comments' are fine, but condescending. To just honestly put it out that yes, there are games in development but no, we're not telling you about them or the new machine is fine with me.
I'm quite happy to be part of the PS3's inevitable PS2 period, since I'm in no way sure I'll buy a next generation console at all.
