Sony loves GamesCom. At least, that’s what we thought. In previous years the platform holder has had a big presence at the European show, announcing titles such as inFamous: Festival of Blood and even revealing the PS3 Slim to the world. But the Japanese company is unsure whether it’s going to show up at the German event this year.
Chatting with GamesIndustry International, SCE's German communications director Guido Alt revealed that the company has still not decided whether it’s going to have a presence at this year's show.
He said:
We have to judge if it makes sense to exhibit at GamesCom every year. We are still negotiating with Koelnmesse. What I can say is that we did not sign a contract so far.
It’s likely Sony’s simply trying to pressure the organisers of the event into better terms, but with Nintendo already announcing its absence from the show, could GamesCom be losing its relevance?

This is maybe due to the econimical state Europe is in this year...
omg thats is very sad
Well that's a shame... Sony always seemed to bring some big guns to GamesCom, while Nintendo and Microsoft kind of ignored it. It would be sad to see the expo just fizzle away.
sony is selling the most PS3 in europe now...they should really go for this year's show...
