Team Ninja has ruled out the possibility of new characters being added to Dead or Alive 5 post-release. Studio head Yosuke Hayashi explained that he believes the practice causes issues with the game’s balance – a feature which is essential to any fighter.
Chatting with VideoGamer.com, Hayashi said:
Even with over 20 characters that's still a real challenge. If we had 50, how much more time would need to balance the game? It gets that much harder to get it right, and it's already very difficult to get right.
Hayashi added that he doesn’t like the idea of different players competing with alternative character rosters. “It makes it an unfair game,” he concluded.

I agree with him. It took Capcom 2 games to balance out Marvel 3. And it still isn't even amazingly balanced.
Real life is unfair. Real life is unbalanced.
If they made a game were a little girl could fight Zangief, they'd work and work to make it balanced so the little girl wasn't outmatched!
