XSEED has announced that the localised version of Unchained Blades will be unleashed on the PlayStation Portable next week. The game – built by a dream team of Japanese developers – will be available from the PlayStation Store for $29.99.
Unfortunately, XSEED was unable to confirm whether the game will be Vita compatible. It’s baffling to us that Sony can’t even sort out the backwards compatibility of brand new PSP releases. We’re not really sure what the problem is anymore.

The problem is that the Vita is software emulating the PSP, not running the games on hardware. The emulator has not yet been perfected, hence some games still don't work. The majority of games that the Vita BC community has tested DO work even though Sony won't admit it (presumably due to a time-intensive game-by-game QA process), but some don't and others still haven't been tried by anyone who would post.
As far as a brand-new title not being confirmed to work or not...that just screams bad QA processing. A new release should obviously be given priority for testing (which shouldn't be hard given how few PSP games are being released out West nowadays), yet this doesn't appear to be happening. Just further proof that Sony doesn't REALLY care about Vita BC in the first place...a fact that doesn't surprise me after they killed off PS2 BC on the PS3.
need these games on the vita too
Makes me worry that the PS4 won't have B/C with PS3 games. I'm expecting this to be the case, but having this function would encourage me to buy the system at launch...
Here's hoping it goes on sale in the fall. Even $5 down would tip my hand at this point.
