Those of you lucky enough to live in the US can now watch your favourite cute kitten videos on the go. Sony has launched the PlayStation Vita’s heavily anticipated YouTube application, which allows you to watch videos in both standard and high definition via the handheld's striking OLED screen.
The application boasts many of YouTube’s most popular features, including recommended videos, comments, history, favourites, and, of course, the all-important search function. You don’t want to end up watching random videos, after all. Well, not if you’re sane, anyway.
There’s no word on a European release date for the YouTube application just yet, but we’re hoping it emerges as part of today’s PlayStation Store update. As always, we’ll keep you updated.

vita should have had the capabilities to do this through the browser in the first place,
but im glad they have this app now.
The videos look fantastic, and connecting it to your YouTube account was simply a matter of signing into the app, and you're walked through the process. It seems to be all touch screen controls, or at least none of the buttons did anything when I pressed them (apart from quitting the app with the PS button of course).
I thought it was going to be another one of those apps that someone might use because they only had access to a PS Vita, but after seeing how nice the videos look, and how fast the interface was, I might stick with the Vita version rather than firing up a PC or other device that often seems to try to get in the way of you just watching some videos.
I did try to visit a channel to subscribe to it, but couldn't find a way to bring up a specific channel. All I got were search results of videos, so perhaps this is something they might update somewhere down the line. Unless I missed it somehow?
Overall though, someone at PS Vita central command deserves a refreshing beverage for their work!
The app does indeed work quite well...no doubt far better than the site would have if the generally crappy browser had flash support. I had trouble signing in to approve the app to use my account because the browser's so crappy.
Also, since I do have a computer handy and would usually use it for YouTube instead, I'd kind of prefer Toobin' release on Vita...preferably alongside several other Midway classics, of course.
I didn't really know what to expect from this app but after having some time to use it now I'm very impressed by it. Definitely something I see myself using quite often.
Like the Twitter(LiveTweet) and Facebook app's, it's much better than it's Android counterparts. It's snappy and stable. Good stuff.
