While most time spent on a PS3 may be for playing, you know, games, the system has undoubtedly become an all-out entertainment hub since it launched. Sony has now announced another service that's almost guaranteed to amuse: The Laugh Factory.
For those that don't know, The Laugh Factory is a comedy club in Hollywood that's been renowned for attracting the biggest names in the business, with a rich history to call on. From 1st September North American PS3 owners will be able to download the service and enjoy unlimited free access until December, from which point it'll cost $3 per month: content will include classic acts from the last 30 years, as well as brand new live shows.
This is, apparently, the first comedy TV app on any console, so Sony gamers can look forward to participating in a first for the industry and having a laugh at the same time: it's win-win.

Damn. US PS3 owners get so much more stuff than us EU peeps!
@seeafish Agree totally. The multimedia apps US users can access are far better than what I get stumped with in the UK. It would be nice if SCEE would announce some new multimedia apps for EU users sometime soon..
this is pretty cool. I bet I'll get pretty good use out of this while it's free. Netflix, MLB, Hulu, Vudu, Amazon Prime, hopefully NFL again this year, and now comedy. I don't need cable at all. Now all we need is HBO GO and I'll be all set.
This is awesome. (Joke about Michael Richards and Daniel Tosh incidents)
@Squiggle55: Heck, I don't need a TV signal at all, cable or no, and I'm working strictly with Netflix and physical media (Bluray and DVD).
I guess I might try this while it's free, though. Why not?
