If you assumed Call of Duty couldn’t possibly get any more edgy, then you were wrong. Activision has announced that it has snapped up Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor to compose Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s theme song. He will not produce the game’s entire soundtrack, however – that honour will go to Mass Effect 2 composer Jack Wall.
Speaking with USA Today, Reznor explained that he was drawn to the project after working on the soundtracks for both The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
He said:
I started dipping my toe into film scoring. That led me to film scoring agents and whatnot and a variety of projects start to get thrown at you to check your level of interest. And quite a while ago I had heard, “Would you be interested in a big franchise video game?” Being an avid gamer my whole life, I said, “Yeah, I would be interested in that.”
You’ll be able to hear Reznor’s theme song for yourself when Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 launches on 13th November.

For a split of second my brain hoped that David Bowie was somehow involved. Thank you, Sammy, for toying with my emotions.
BTW, this photo is ancient, isn't it?
@fchinaski It's from the "I'm Afraid of Americans" video I think.
@get2sammy
Yeah, that's possible. It's certainly from that era.
If we go with Daria's definition of the word, "'edgy' occurs when middlebrow, middle-aged profiteers are looking to suck the energy - not to mention the spending money - out of the "youth culture." So they come up with this fake concept of seeming to be dangerous when every move they make is the result of market research and a corporate master plan" then it is literally not possible to Call of Duty to get any more "edgy".
@thebluelight1 I thought so too... Until they announced Trent Reznor was writing the theme song!
