Manchester United and England talisman Wayne Rooney has been dropped from the UK cover of FIFA 13. It’ll be the first time in seven years that a FIFA game has launched without the striker on the box.
Instead, he’ll be replaced by Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, Manchester City keeper Joe Hart, and, er, Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
You’ll be able to find Hart’s furrowed brow on store shelves from 28th September. A demo’s due out on 11th September.

They always throw a pretty much unproven English player onto the cover, like last year they had er... what's his name. Also from Arsenal. See, forgotten already.
Anyway I'm just glad I don't have Rooney's ugly mug looking at me every time I change discs.
good to play a good portable game on the go
@ShogunRok Hahahaha. Hopefully the Ox doesn't get injured within a week of the game's release.
Lets hope somebody removes rooney from life ..... the bloke is a thick overpaid animal.
@dirtyplastic A little bit harsh...
@get2sammyb Wilshire! That's the one. Quite unlucky on EA's part wasn't it?
which part? hee hee
Fifa 13 will be good this year I'm sure of it. Wayne Rooney was on the cover enough anyway.
