Quirky tower defence smash hit Plants vs. Zombies is getting a follow-up next year, developer PopCap Games has announced. The studio is currently sprinkling Miracle-Gro onto the secretive sequel, but couldn’t resist confirming the exciting news.
The game will feature more plant and zombie types than ever before. It’ll also boast some fresh locations and situations.
"Spring is crullest curlie ungood time, and plantz grow dull roots," reads PopCap Games' tongue-in-cheek press release. "So, we are meating you for brainz at yore house. No worry to skedule schedlue plan... we're freee anytime. We'll find you."
No platforms have been announced, but we'd be surprised if the title didn't end up on PS3 and Vita eventually. Feel free to go nuts in the comments section below.

Woo-hoo!!
My kids and I last night were discussing what games we'ld like in the future and a PvZ sequel was near the top of the list. Popcap is overdue.
@rjejr It's definitely overdue, I agree. Looking forward to this, though.
Very excited about this. I hope it's on Vita Day 1. I can hope, right?
Bout time
I love Plants vs. Zombies. Can't wait to try this.
Love the mess outta this game on my Windows Phone. Kids love it on the DS. Heck, we'll all lover it anywhere we can get it (Vita plz)
This is the only game I have bought three versions of. I own it on mac, DS, and PS3. It really is that great. PopCap you freaking rock!! Keep up the awesomeness! You and WayForward are my favorite developers. And yes, I will probably buy Plants vs. Zombies 2 on every console I own.
I love plants vs zombies , but is it not going be the same gameplay?? I think it is a fast money grab.... Still going to purchase it.
@Sanquine If it's a money grab then it's a very slooowww money grab. I've been waiting on this for quite a while. New levels, plants, and zombies are all I need to be satisfed. Hopefully there's a lot more inventive mini-games as well. Can't wait.
I'm getting this day one!
@Sanquine: PopCap is not particularly known for releasing "money grabs." I doubt it'll be an issue.
This does need to try to launch on more platforms, though. The slow burn getting it out onto various devices after the original release was kinda crazy. I'll get it on Vita given the option, 'cause the touch controls really are perfect for the game. I didn't care for PvZ much on PS3 (first version I tried), and it turned out to simply be a control issue. Love it on Vita.
