Ask Sony Computer Entertainment Europe gaffer Jim Ryan about the recently leaked PlayStation 3 Super Slim and he’ll spin you a yarn. “Which new PS3?” he told CVG when quizzed on the subject, before laughing the question off and moving on.
Asked again about the hardware’s absence during the company’s GamesCom 2012 press conference, Ryan added: “Well, we had so much to talk about on the software side, and that’s all we wanted to talk about.”
Rumours suggested Sony had planned to announce the new device during last week’s European show, but opted against it due to a higher than expected inventory of existing consoles. The platform – which almost certainly exists – will now probably be announced at TGS.
The alleged console is said to be significantly smaller, and will sport an extremely competitive 16GB variant. Perfect for all those kids asking Santa for Wonderbook this Christmas.

"will sport an extremely competitive 16GB variant. "
Competitive how? On price? Is this going to turn into a fiasco where some games don't run? Though I guess 16GB is big enough for anything currently out there, though MLB The Show 2012 is hogging up 10GB at the moment. Are they going to call this PS3 Arcade? I guess it will be a lot cheaper without a HDD, I'm assuming the 16GB is memory based. But really, why bother? Unless it is going to be $99. Will it bundle with the Move?
Sorry so many questions, I knew the newer slimmer PS3 model was coming, I didn't know they were going to cripple it. I just replaced my old 80GB HDD with a 500GB and that's half full already with PS+ stuff and a couple of free episodes off of Vudu.
Maybe they should have stuck that 16GB inside of Vita instead.
@rjejr Competitive in terms of price. I imagine if the 16GB is real, it's going to be very cheap. It will probably still allow users to install their own HDD if they choose, though.
yup need a cheap and slim ps3,need space for ps4
yaaaa... we don't need playstation 4 yet so stop bringing that up.....for now
Me personally, I don't think there should be a new re-vision, it just sounds stupid. Make a 16gb current ps3 with no hdd in it (to expand) and that would make sense.
