Twisted Metal’s antagonistic anti-hero Sweet Tooth is the latest fighter to be featured in Sony’s ongoing PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale video documentary series. In the accompanying blog post, lead combat designer Paul Edwards says that the character was designed with input from the Twisted Metal team – including series creator David Jaffe.
Developer SuperBot Entertainment also had early access to the latest Twisted Metal game, which inspired the character's Nuke move. During the Level 2 super attack, Sweet Tooth pulls out a DualShock 3 controller, adding to his “campy B-movie feel”.
Edwards continues that the fighter's focus is on powerful attacks. “He initially had a large degree of combo ability using his melee attacks, but we decided that didn’t really fit with his physique or playstyle,” he explains. “Instead, he likes to pick his battles, come through with a quick burst of power, then move on to the next opportunity.”
