It was always going to be difficult for Techland to match the announcement trailer that essentially ensured the original Dead Island’s commercial success. As such, it’s not especially surprising that this debut Dead Island: Riptide short doesn’t quite elicit the same response.
The video adopts a similar formula to its predecessor, with a harrowing scene set to the lonely sounds of a soulless piano ditty. It just doesn’t quite have that same spark – which is ironic, considering the events in the final moments of the footage.

That original Dead Island trailer was so good. I think that's problem here...
You know even with the bad things I have heard about the first game, it's still the kinda game I will probably break down and buy. I'm sure I will end up seeing it dirt cheap some where and it will end up in my cart.
@Splat The original Dead Island is good — and probably even better now it's had a year to be patched — but don't expect it to play anything like the trailers imply. It's essentially Borderlands with zombies.
thats a really boring trailer...
@JavierYHL I dunno. I think it's pretty good — just not as good as the last one.
You know, if there's one thing that makes curious and kind of anxious about the next generation is human characters modelling and animation. After six years, with rare exceptions, they all look kind of "meh" to me. I think we are at that point when what can be achieved is not very impressive anymore, because its basically the same we have been seeing for half a decade, and I can't help but focus on the flaws instead. Anyway, on-topic, nice trailer.
That's a great trailer, almost as good as the last one. The problem is that everyone knows that the last trailer was nothing like the actual game, so who knows what to believe here.
