Day one patches are typically reserved for minor fixes, but Medal of Honor: Warfighter takes things to a whole new level. The game's last minute software update – available today alongside its North American release – fixes a slew of single-player and multiplayer bugs, including teensy issues such as “unresponsive controls”.
The sheer size of the list forced many to ponder how the title passed certification in the first place. Thankfully, BioWare’s Manveer Heir had an answer: “Microsoft and Sony will give you a waiver if you promise to have the Day 0 patch, ask nicely, are a big game, and pay a little,” he said on Twitter. “Not sure if payment is always required but I know it sometimes is.”
So, basically, the game wasn’t finished when it went to QA. Fantastic.

@TOMBOY25 Yup. Good, isn't it?
just read patch notes Single-Player Gameplay
•Added tutorial text to first sniper encounter to help teach player about bullet drop.
•Fixed an issue where the default difficulty was set to Easy instead of Normal.
•Fixed an issue where controls would become unresponsive under certain conditions.
•Fixed an issue with one of the in-game cinematics.
•Improved single player stability and fixed progression stoppers.
HOW THE HELL DID THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS?
@TOMBOY25
Like this I would assume:
“Microsoft and Sony will give you a waiver if you promise to have the Day 0 patch, ask nicely, are a big game, and pay a little,” he said on Twitter. “Not sure if payment is always required but I know it sometimes is.”
This is what happens when you're rushing your game out the door to beat CoD by a couple of weeks. And as this is the game in between Battlefield & CoD, you can bet the pressure's on to maximise sales before the inevitable CoD rush.
And of course, the pending Battlefield DLC is on it's way to the party too . . .
God, this is terrible. No wonder EA didn't send out review copies before launch
So you can pretty much pay a fee to be allowed to shove out an unfinished game?
