It seems as though the negative reviews have done nothing to deter Resident Evil 6 from infecting numerous PlayStation 3s across the globe, as Capcom has announced that it has shipped 4.5 million copies of the divisive sequel worldwide.
It also took a moment to boast that the Resident Evil franchise has sold 50 million units in total as of June 2012. The publisher believes that its latest numbers indicate that the series is "just as popular today as it was 15 years ago when the first title made its debut”. That may be true – but Capcom’s going to have to ensure that the next game is top-notch before interest begins to wane.

Good for Capcom I guess. I enjoyed Leon's campaign quite a bit but was only so-so on Jake's and really, really can't stand what they did with Chris' campaign. I miss old school RE but I guess if this game sells well I just have to give up hope of ever getting a game true to those old school roots again. The most disappointing part is, Leon's campaign actually shows that Capcom is still fully capable of delivering a great modern day RE, I wish they would've fleshed that one out a bit more because the potential was there for this to be a top entry in the series and a GOTY contender but clueless bottomliners would rather try to go after a group of gamers that doesn't, never has and never will care about RE and the overall product had to suffer because of it.
And that's (at least) 4 million let-down fans for Capcom! Haha
Depends on if they played the demo or not. I was really looking forward to the game but tempered my expectations after playing the demo. I knew I was getting it only for Leon's campaign and fortunately I thought that part actually delivered. The other campaigns are just as I expected after the demo. Jake's is playable because the story is interesting and I do like the Nemesis style of gameplay they went for but it was still very average at best. Chris' campaign is just a big mess, don't really know what they were going for. It's bad enough that that campaign was uninspired but if you're going to copy Gears just make it a straight up copy, cover system and all, at least then there would be less issues with the gameplay. Hopefully Ada's campaign is good so it makes going through Chris' and Jake's worth it.
