Sony’s not averse to bundling the PlayStation 3 with the Vita. Speaking with CVG, PlayStation UK managing director Fergal Gara explained that the company has "nothing against” the idea, and that, while there are currently no plans to produce it, the hardware compilation could feasibly hit store shelves as early as Christmas.
He added that such a bundle would be a perfect candidate for cross-platform games, and could also include PlayStation Plus, which is extending to both platforms in November. Of course, the one issue Gara didn’t touch upon is price. It’d be hard to imagine the potential package selling for much less than £399.99, which would probably be a shade too expensive for the average consumer.

A bit too expensive yes, but you are getting two great systems, one with a large catalog of great games and one that has already quite a few good games, with both having many more to come.
Agree with Sammy and Aviator.
Although attractive in theory, the price would just make it a very bad business move... especially since the Vita isn't dropping in price and the PS3 actually went up with it's redesign.
Oh, Sony, how I hope you guys know what you're doing...
@Aviator The value's definitely there, I agree. The problem is, people look at price-tags rather than value.
This would need a 'Kller App' to come off well. As well as LBP may work using crossplay, it's not going to shift systems at this price. Now, *if the PS3 version of Aliens: Colonial Marines does the crossplay thing as well as it should- like the WIiU version no doubt will- that would be an amazing pack!
Obviously that would miss the Xmas window, but I really can't think of any other big, shiny reason anyone would buy them together. Remote Play is starting to get better, but it's still along way off even what was promised with the PSP, and there still isn't a really, really good FPS (I know, there's more to life and gaming than FPSs, but I'm thinking sales here) on the Vita yet.
I don't see price being a deterrent if it is a "limited time holiday bundle" type of thing. That's what holidays are for The Star Wars Kinect bundle is $399 which isn't cheap for an Xbox360 even with Kinect. $500 should allow Sony to stick a $250 Vita and $250 PS3 in a box and throw in PS All-Stars, which comes with a free Vita copy w/ PS3 game purchase anyway. That's the 1 game which I can see demanding a bundle as it has real cross platform play. No, they wouldn't sell a ton, but they would sell some over the holidays.
@rjejr That's actually an interesting point. It would make a decent Black Friday bundle! Toss in a year PlayStation Plus subscription and I could see that doing decently.
@rjejr @get2sammyb
Very good point, I'd very much overlooked All Stars! That could do it, throw in WipEout 2048/HD/Fury, some Dust 514 goodies & Neocom and you've got a very resonable package there.
@KALofKRYPTON, it'd be amazing if they included a free month of PS+ and a $20 PSN card with it too.
I absolutely love my Vita and PS3, and it's definitely worth the prices for both of them.
Uncharted bundle with all the Uncharted games?
@irken004 A good one too. I loved Golden Abyss- definately made me want to complete the others after playing it.
