If your trigger finger’s itching for some old-school first-person action, then the DOOM Classic Collection should catch your attention. The downloadable compilation – mentioned on this week’s episode of the PlayStation Blogcast among other places – will comprise DOOM, DOOM 2, and Final DOOM. The first two titles were included alongside the recently released DOOM 3 BFG Edition, so this seems like an alternative option for those who don’t want to purchase the full PlayStation 3 package.
The game’s due out later today in North America, and tomorrow in Europe, according to Eurogamer.net’s water-tight sources. We reckon that this would have been a perfect fit for the PlayStation Vita, actually.
Update: Bethesda's just announced the collection on its official blog. It will cost $14.99/£11.99 when it launches this week.

into a package. and they expect us to pay AGAIN???
they should simply give it for free for god's sake. geez.
@Samholy Haha. It's no different to the PSone Classics, etc, on the PlayStation Store. And they have added in Trophies.
This looks like something that will end up in Ps+
Bethesda's just confirmed the collection. I've updated the story to clarify.
Being unfortunately old enough to remember these the first time round, why would anyone bother. They are so repetitive. Modern shooters just make them look silly.
Wolfenstein and original Doom are interesting for historical reasons as they were the first real games set in a 3D world and they changed the face of gaming. They deserve their place in history, but that doesn't mean you still want to play them.
Bethesda needs to release a collection with Arena, Daggerfall, and Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition.
