Forget about Mayan calendars and apocalyptic predictions – the insects are set to invade sooner than we expected. Namco Bandai has sent word that Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable – the PlayStation Vita port of Sandlot’s cult classic – will deploy in Europe on 16th January. Those of you lucky enough to live in North America will have an additional month to prepare yourself for the onslaught, when the title arrives on 12th February.
Alongside the release date announcements, the publisher also furnished our inbox with a batch of brand new screenshots. You can peruse the full itch-inducing selection through here.
Update: Actually, the game's out in North America on 8th January. Apologies for the confusion.

Good news, watched a clip on you tube this looks like just good fun, no in depth story just blast aliens!!! Peoplw say vita has no good games coming!!
@Dambuster Yeah, this game is a perfect fit for Vita. I wonder how much it will cost, though?
40$ in US
They killed my purchase when they showed that price. I mean if they are going to do a digital only release atleast price it cheaper then a normal release.
@Gemuarto Yeah, that's too much.
Ohh is it download only?
I've updated this article. There was some confusion over the North American date.
