We’ve got to admit, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale’s seemingly poor sales had us worried for a moment. Developer SuperBot Entertainment has crafted such an excellent starting point, that it would be a real shame if the idea didn’t get fleshed out further in a sequel – but it looks like that’s exactly what’s on the cards.
A couple of job listings – one for an art director, the other for a game designer – suggest that Sony is in the early stages of putting together a sequel. The advertisement for the latter role notes that potential candidates should have “a near encyclopaedic knowledge of modern games, with emphasis on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale”. It adds that “knowledge of fighting games, their systems, and mechanics [is also] a serious plus”.
Meanwhile, the art director position gets even more specific: “A project such as PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, which by definition brings together elements ranging from an incredibly wide range of artistic styles, requires a strong and unifying vision to present a cohesive and polished product.”
We suppose it’s possible that Sony could be recruiting for DLC production, but it seems more likely that a sequel is on the way to us. We guess that means it’s time to kick-start the old roster discussion again: which characters would you like to see added to the follow-up?

Was considering get this (Never wanted to pay full price for it) till i saw this maybe in the next one they will finaly add crash and spyro.
But they maybe are just recruting to make some DLC....
Well I will just wait till the price drop to 30-40 bucks on amazon.
Listen to the feedback and address all the things wrong with it (which is a lot) and maybe even ask who we fans want and then the game may well turn out as good as we all wanted rather than a boring, jumbled mess.
@rastamadeus Haha, I obviously disagree with your opinion on the game — but I'm sure they'll be listening to feedback. Personally, my biggest hope is that they boost the overall presentation. The game looks good when you're actually playing it, but all of the menus, etc, are so bland. Hopefully they give all of that stuff a facelift.
@Epic I imagine you'll be waiting a while to play this. It'll probably be a PS4 game, and won't be arriving for at least two (if not three) years. It's clear that Activision doesn't want them to put Crash Bandicoot in the game by the way. I think you're going to have to forget about him, unfortunately.
Seems like Activision would rather forget about Crash at this point...after they ran him into the ground, naturally. sigh
I have a friend who's applied with SuperBot...and his credentials certainly do fit the listing...like, better than I'd thought (hadn't seen the listing before now). Kinda hoping he gets it now.
Too early for a sequel. I want to see SuperBot do their own thing.
Sony has a lot of games that could be included in some form in the sequel, such as ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Last Guardian, The Last of Us, Siren, Journey, Escape Plan, Unfinished Swan, Puppeteer, Tearaway & Rain...whether it would be playable characters or levels. There are some 3rd party choices that would be suitable too, including Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Klonoa, Soul Sacrifice, Assassin's Creed & Resident Evil series that are (or were) strongly associated with the Playstation brand.
Some characters I think would be good would be Lara Croft, Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, Klonoa, Tombi, Joseph Capelli, Kutaro (from Puppeteer), Iota (from Tearaway)...and yes, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.
keep one per console.
superbot should make a couple of games,2 or 3, before launching the all-star sequel.
and they really should patch and upgrade their game, adding new game modes. its essential, cause playstation all-star is as good as it is, but really lacks content. There is no deathmatch standard which is a shame. only focusing on power moves to kill or gain points gets old really fast.
@Samholy What a minute how could you ever say that? They have a kill mode which is basically equivalent to a deathmatch type of mode.Isn't like smash brothers had that much in content mostly the same stuff.Story mode online mode and local multiplayer that was about it and it was mostly the same modes so I don't really see the issue. What exactly do you want them to do? If they really wanted to they could have made a street fighter type of fighter but instead they choose that smash brothers route and also they tweaked it and it's a totally different game compared to that one.First of all in all-stars you build up that AP meter to get those power moves. You just completely simplified and made it sound like you automatically get those moves from the start. There's alot more to it than that to be completely honest. The kill mode though is the deathmatch mode for this game.
