Far Cry 3 couldn’t quite displace Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 in the penultimate UK sales chart of the year – but ongoing retailer promotions have propelled it to the summit of the final countdown of 2012. It was a huge week for Ubisoft in general, with both Assassin’s Creed III and Just Dance 4 also finishing in the top ten.

Elsewhere, FIFA 13 jumped into second, pushing Activision’s aforementioned first-person blockbuster into third. Hitman: Absolution dropped into fourth, while Need for Speed: Most Wanted accelerated into fifth. None could pass LEGO Lord of the Rings in ninth, while Wonderbook: Book of Spells maintained its relevance in 37th.
