If you were wondering where the next big LEGO game was going to come from, and the recently revealed Legends of Chima failed to prompt much of a response, then perhaps today’s announcement will succeed in securing your excitement. Warner Bros has confirmed that it’s teaming up with seasoned developer Traveller’s Tales yet again to release LEGO Marvel Super Heroes on both the PlayStation 3 and Vita later this year.
Based on the toy collection of the same name, the upcoming adventure will bring “the characters, vehicles, and action of Marvel’s renowned universe” to the aforementioned Sony platforms. The title will boast an original storyline, in which Nick Fury seeks the support of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man, and numerous “other heroes” to stop Loki and Galactus.
"Players will brave the ultimate mission to save the world as they explore famous landmarks in LEGO New York and take the adventure beyond Earth to iconic locations in the Marvel Universe,” beamed Traveller’s Tales’ Tom Stone.
The full release will feature over 100 characters, which we’re personally hoping includes The Astonishing Ant-Man. After all, that would certainly be something to anticipate.

2013 is turning out to be the age of the PS3. Awwwwwwww yeeeeeeeeah.
This LEGO game would be right up my alley
I hope that the vita version will not be an upscale of the DS version as usual but a port of the PS3 one.
@belmont: I'm sure it'll be the "handheld" version as usual.
Y'know, I think it's kinda weird that WB is putting this out. After all, DISNEY owns Marvel now, so why isn't Disney Interactive behind this one?
I think Chima is going to be a big seller of Lego blocks - they've already pushed aside most of the Ninjago stuff - but Marvel will be a better game. As long as they don't have any of those slacker voices from Super Hero Squad "shudder"
And in case anyone is wondering what's after Lego Marvel, I'll bet big on Lego Hobbit to coincide with the release of the 3rd movie.
@belmont - I agree, I'm playing LotR for Vita and although ok to play.. it is nowhere near as complex as the PS3 games; They have more to smash, more to build, and going from a PS3 to a Vita.. I'm disappointed.
