Telltale’s excellent take on The Walking Dead may have been a surprise critical success, but it’s also been a huge commercial smash hit too. Chatting with the Wall Street Journal, co-founder Dan Connors has revealed that the series has sold a whopping 8.5 million episodes across multiple platforms. “At about $5 per episode, that’s roughly more than $40 million in sales, not including any promotions,” he said.
To be fair, The Walking Dead has seen its fair share of promotions – including a giveaway on PlayStation Plus – but these numbers are still wildly impressive. No wonder the company has already started work on the hotly anticipated second season.
