Just in case you needed any more convincing about the commercial clout of God of War: Ascension, Sony has announced that it is teaming up with the History channel to bring an exclusive new weapon to the ancient adventure based on the upcoming TV show, Vikings. That’s right, for the first time ever, Greek and Norse mythologies will combine, which sounds like a recipe for disaster as far as we’re concerned.
Assuming you pre-order the game from Best Buy, you’ll receive a voucher for the Mjölnir, or Hammer of Thor, which you’ll be able to use in multiplayer. You’ll also be gifted with the Mythological Heroes Multiplayer Pack, which features four unique armour sets based on legendary warriors such as Perseus and Achilles.
The game itself is due out on 12th March in North America and 15th March in Europe. A single-player demo is set to release shortly, which will include exclusive bonus content from the aforementioned TV show. Cross-marketing, huh?

Strange mash-up. Still, a lot cooler than the GameStop pre-order bonus in my opinion.
