Sony’s skipped straight past the PlayStation Portable in its ongoing ‘Evolution’ series, pointing its crosshairs at the PlayStation 3 instead. This video is less substantial than previous releases – presumably because the PS3 is still a very relevant product – but there’s still plenty of footage to get your taste buds tingling.
If we were tasked with putting together this trailer, we would have used that excellent/awful ‘$599 US dollars’ remix from YouTube as a backing track. That’s a huge missed opportunity, as far as we’re concerned. Still, while we lament what could have been, feel free to share your favourite PS3 memories in the comments section below.

Ahhh the PS3... I loved that console. No wait...
But seriously, I love my PS3. It may not have the library the PS2 had (then again, what does?), but I feel the experiences I've had on PS3 have probably surpassed anything that came previously.
I feel as though this gen has been (unfairly) mocked by too many. I've had a great time - not that it's over yet.
they showed gravity rush and uncharted golden abyss when mentioning PS+ however they forgot to mention specifically God of War 3 although they showed the upcoming GOW: Ascension along with other upcoming games like Beyond: Two souls and Last of Us.
And they did not mention the Wonderbook I mean come on that is one of the most innovative things that happened in this gen and you forget to show it off and I thought that Wonderbook was like a super important thing seeing that they spent 30 mins on it during E3... I mean come on you feel like Harry Potter with WonderBook
@meldarion To be fair, they had a lot to cram into two minutes!
Did they really just call the Move controller "unique"?
They also managed to skate over the all-conquering PlayStation Home.
The PS3 is awesome. I debated for awhile on getting the PS3 or 360 and I 100% feel I made the right choice.
I can't imagine missing out on Uncharted,Infamous,Journey,Ratchet & Clank,Heavy Rain,God of War,Sly ect. The list goes on and on and that is just the exclusives.
It also has the best controller out of big 3 consoles IMO. I'm a huge Nintendo fan and loved the Wii, but it has become just a Netflix player since I got my PS3.
@Zenith Same for me, I mean I currently don't have a PS3, I had it for a month or so then I had to give it away since I'm studying for my degree, and I was hoping to fill the gap with the PSVita. I ended up jumping out of the train as soon as I understood UMDs were no longer supported. I'm still very disappointed but anyway, maybe it was for the good and I'm still wanting a PS3, it's bound to receive sweet offers from now on and lots of fresh end gen games are coming.
The Xbox is far behind the Playstation level, with only a few titles of some interest, the rest is pretty much lame.
I am sure another long year will pass before PS4 will arrive, and even more to it starting off with a good selection of games, so it is better to wait while playing what remains of this gen, plus pretending to get a fully functional backward compatibility while there is still market for the PS3 is just wrong imho.
PS3 you lil bro may come soon but I will never forget you thanks for all these amazing games the best one for me being Ratchet and Clank Crack in Time followed by Sly Cooper Collection I hope that PS4 get backward compatible its the only way I may even consider getting a PS4.
I prefer play on the go so Vita is the answer. 3ds graphic is inferior that's why and ps3 is not mobile
The same reason I won't buy ps4
great video, still loving the ps3
I hope they don't skip the psp and psvita, hopefully they'll be showing those tomorrow and tuesday.
I got my PS3 a bit late into its lifespan but it was well worth it. Haven't played it as much lately (why is it that as you get older you seem to spend more time on media sites and youtube, than actually playing the games themselves?) but there are still plenty of games out there to keep anyone busy, with more on the way.
Despite the PS4 looming over head the PS3 still has a lot of life left and should see quite a bit of use while the fledgling console slowly takes flight.
@Zombie_Barioth: You kidding? If the internet had existed in its current form when I was a kid, I'd more than likely have wasted just as much time on it then as I do now.
Yeah, love my PS3...bought the MGS4 bundle in 2008 just because I knew it was the last BC model...then it went YLOD in 2010 and I had to replace it with a Move bundle machine. It's still a monolithic decoration on my shelf, though.
A retrospective featuring games yet to be released? Ah well...
@Sammy Love the $599 reference. Even though I really like my PS3 I've always enjoyed and got a good laugh with these "anti" PS3 videos.

It was a bit of a struggle from 2006-2008 with some highlights here and there (Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword and, of course, Metal Gear Solid 4 topping my personal favorite list). Since 2009 though, PS3 has easily been the best console on the market, it's not even close. The exclusives from first and second parties have been fantastic.
well i love my PS3 (my 360 is just a really expensive dust magnet) just as much as i do my PS2 and PS1 PlayStation IS the place to be for great games and while they did struggle for a while they are now back on top (currently outselling the 360 worldwide) so heres to the future and the PS4 and may it bring all the joys the past PlayStations have
PS the next xbox can get lost i'm not touching it with a ten foot barge pole not after the piece of crap that is the 360 paying to play online in this day and age, if it wasn't for a few select exclusives like Tales of Vesperia because i love the Tales series and Forza i wouldn't even keep the one i have
ps4! ps4! ps4! my money is ready
@ThreadShadow: Ah, it's fun looking back at all the negativity now that Sony's long-term plan has come to fruition. Back then, they were right...Wii60 was the best bet. Not so much now, though...PSWiiU is a much better combo...with 3DS and Vita on the side for good measure.
@Confused_Dude IT'S GOT A GLOWING BALL OF LIGHT ON TOP OF IT! What more do you want? Good exclusive games? Proper support? Massive userbase? Oh. You do? Well tough. Just take your tennis ball of light and be happy.
