Batman: Arkham Origins

How do you make a relatively dull Tuesday afternoon suddenly seem interesting? You announce that Batman: Arkham Origins is coming to the PlayStation 3 on 25th October, and that veteran developer Rocksteady Studios is not at the helm. It may seem like we’re telling Riddler-esque tales, but that’s exactly what Game Informer has confirmed.

The North American publication has an exclusive cover story on the prequel, which is being developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal. According to the magazine, the studio has been given full access to Rocksteady’s modified version of the Unreal Engine, allowing the release to capture the “look and feel of the Arkhamverse”.

The title takes place four years before the previous entries in the series, where a young Batman encounters numerous super villains for the first time. The assassin Deathstroke will be joining the party, and we daresay that the adventure may also plot the return of a certain clown character.

The game’s due out later this year on the PS3, with no mention of a PlayStation 4 version. It makes us wonder if Rocksteady’s been given the opportunity to work on a full next generation sequel, while this title fills the gap in between. Are you excited for more caped crusading?
