Sony has a habit of teasing nifty features before going back on its word – but it looks like it wasn't telling porkies when it revealed that PlayStation Vita remote play would be compatible with virtually every PlayStation 4 game. An update to the impending platform’s official website brings the promising news, as it states that you’ll be able to “play your favourite PS4 titles on your Vita’s beautiful 5-inch display”.
While it’s not an out and out confirmation that all games definitely will support the feature, VG247 rightly points out that the comment would be extremely misleading if that didn't turn out to be the case. Earlier in the year, Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said that he’ll be “heartbroken” if the feature doesn’t make it into all launch games. We reckon that, motion-heavy releases aside, this should just be a requirement – after all, as long as the platform holder makes the feature easy to implement, then what have developers got to lose?

Gooooood!
All games? How would this work with Move games? I mean there will be an Eye in every PS4 box, right? So Move games, yes? I don't see the Vita working w/ any PS4 Wonderbook titles.
Call me a pessimist, but I still won't believe it until I see it. Still doesn't feel guaranteed to me.
I honestly can't see any reason to want to play Move games over Remote Play. For me, so long as it works with minimal input lag-I'm happy.
@rjejr I'm assuming that Move games won't work. (In fact, I think they've said as much, but can't find a source). It looks like everything else will, though. Have added a comment into the original article to clarify.
I've been thinking that they should start pushing cross control functionality. It would open up some pretty exciting new ways to play.
@TheRealBatman I agree. The problem is that it requires multiple expensive purchases on the consumer end. Realistically, it's not worth the development effort from third-parties — and probably not first-parties either.
I like this idea. If one of those guys above have girlfriend/ wife you want this to happen. Now i almost every day playing on my Wii U or ps vita because of the reason i cant game on the bigscreen
@TheRealBatman @get2sammyb They need to have a bundle with the ps4 + vita and promote it! This is the most expensive version. And then a version without the vita
@get2sammyb Oh yeah, I forgot about that... Remote play is just as good, so it's not so bad.
They basically lied about remote play with ps3 prelaunch, so I can't help but play wait and see.
@Sanquine That would cost them more money than the Vita alone, which isn't a hit that they're capable oftaking. Although if they did do that, I would definitely buy it.
@TheRealBatman exactly call it the "remote play" pack........I would say only make a few of them and only have them initially in the first 3-6 months of launch at a very good price. After that time frame they are to be removed from the market.
Even local remote play with Vita will be a PS4 selling point for me however generally surely this is not the case.
@get2sammyb - I know the Move games won't work, we already discussed this awhile back, I was trying to point out that they shouldn't advertise "all games" if some of them aren't going to work. What if your "favorite" games are Just Dance or EyePet or Zumba or whatever their PS4 equivalents will be? I just think they need to be careful how they word it.
Did you know Nintendo had to pull 1 of it's EU WiiU commercials for advertising you can play your games off-screen b/c not all games are actually playable?

@rjejr I agree. I think their wording using words like "virtually" and "your favorite" is sufficiently vague as well. And especially Yoshida saying he'll be "heartbroken if it doesn't make it into all launch games". None of these quotes inspire confidence in me that Sony isn't pulling my leg again. Wake me up when someone says. "I guarantee that remote play will work with all ps4 games except where the playstation move is required. Don't even worry about it, it's guaranteed, that's simply what the ps4 does, there's no doubt about it." None of this "I sure hope remote play works with most games".
Hey, at least they're saying anything about it 1st hand to us... As opposed to G4 musing about playing Skyrim on Vita... But yeah, I agree.
Prove it, sirs!
Well it better function well, I'd love to stream Killzone Shadow Fall on my vita into my room
Hopefully this turns out to be true, because it'll sell more Vitas. And we all want that. But as for me, I don't care in the slightest. Why would I want to play a PS4 game on my Vita instead of my HD tv? My husband is always working and if he's home and wants to watch Netflix, he uses either the computer or his iTouch. We don't have cable.
I think I'll wait until Sony puts their money where their mouth is before getting all excited about this.
You know what they say, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Even if most launch titles are remote-playable doesn't mean all future games will too.
@neumaus I fall into the same boat, I think. While the novelty of being able to play a game like Killzone: Shadow Fall in bed sounds great, realistically I'd probably never use it. I can see how some homes would really appreciate the feature, though.
@Zombie_Barioth It depends on how they handle it. Ideally, there should just be a button in the PS4 devkit that switches the functionality on and reassigns all of the controls correctly. If all third-parties have to do is test it, then there's no reason why it shouldn't work across the board.
@neumaus @get2sammyb I am definitely a home that would benefit from remote play. More and more the only time I have for gaming is in the evening when we're already in bed. And my backlog just sits in my ps3 downstairs in the living room crying out to me.
With this function the Vita automatically gets the ps4 software library instantly, and theres no needs for expensive memory cards? All the Vitas problems solved in one go. Good idea Sony.
